A Two-Day Training Held at the SEI Centre to Strengthen Professional and Communication Skills of Staff

At the SEI Centre, on November 3 and 4, 2025, a two-day training was held for the staff of the SEI Centre and employees of the Development and Guarantee Fund of Brčko District BiH. The training was conducted by IDEA X Agency within the project Socio-economic Inclusion in Brčko District BiH.

The aim of the training was to empower employees for quality work with project beneficiaries, especially marginalized groups, through the development of communication, interpersonal, and professional skills, as well as the establishment of a unified work protocol in accordance with the SEI Centre standards.

According to project coordinator Vanja Josić, the training focused on developing professional and communication competencies – from efficiently handling client inquiries to preparing for interviews with employers – with the goal of strengthening self-confidence and the ability to clearly express one’s needs.

“These are all skills that formal education does not teach us; we usually have to learn them on our own,” said Josić, adding that the ultimate long-term goal is to create the conditions for sustainable employment, primarily for members of the SEI project’s target groups – women, youth, persons with disabilities, and members of the Roma minority.

The SEI Centre’s Expert for Socio Economic Inclusion, Miloš Stanković, emphasized that the trainers used principles of non-formal education and experiential learning, combined with practical tools and tests.

“Some of the methods used during the training included interactive approaches such as active listening and feedback, conflict resolution, communication with vulnerable groups identified by the project, as well as informational and advisory work and the development of digital competencies for working with beneficiaries,” Stanković explained.

The training was organized through a combination of presentations, interactive exercises, group discussions, and reflections, all aimed at strengthening teamwork and professional culture within the SEI Centre.

The SEI Project is funded by the Government of the Czech Republic through the Czech Development Agency, and implemented by CARE International Balkans and the Development and Guarantee Fund of Brčko District BiH.
