SEI Center Brčko: Contracts Signed for the Continuation of Project Implementation and Employment of Interns with Local Employers
On June 13, 2025, a formal signing ceremony was held at the SEI Center Brčko for contracts marking the continuation of the implementation of the Socio-Economic Inclusion project. The agreements were signed between Care International, the Development and Guarantee Fund of Brčko District BiH, and employers from the District. These contracts refer to the allocation of funds for co-financing compensation for interns who will carry out their internship in selected companies, continuing efforts to employ young people, long-term unemployed persons, and members of marginalized groups.
“This is the third project year, and we started implementation in October 2023. With the support of former Mayor Nišić, we quickly secured this building in Kolobara, which we equipped during 2024 and formed a professional team. Today, the SEI Center operates as a functional and recognizable institution, and without delay, we organized the signing of partnership agreements with the Development and Guarantee Fund and the employers who responded to the public call. The candidates who are about to start their internship successfully completed the training and submitted their business plans,” said Branislav Tanasijević, Project Manager at Care International responsible for implementing the project in Brčko District BiH.

Tanasijević announced a continuation of intensive cooperation with local institutions and the civil sector, aiming to establish a social enterprise that would directly employ vulnerable groups.
“Tomorrow, we will sign an agreement with four non-governmental organizations from Brčko that will further strengthen the promotion of the SEI Center. We want the Center to be a welcoming place for everyone – where four skilled staff members provide support to citizens in job searching and identifying relevant trainings. The total value of the project for the four-year period is BAM 2.7 million, with nearly BAM 1 million secured for this year alone,” Tanasijević added.

Zlatan Musić, Head of the Unit for the Implementation of International Projects at the Development and Guarantee Fund of Brčko District, stated that the objective in this phase is to employ at least 15 new individuals from marginalized groups, including three members of national minorities. Other beneficiaries will include young people, women, and long-term unemployed persons.
“Today we signed contracts with employers who applied to the public call and who will provide young people with their first paid work experience. The fields of work are diverse – we have interns in healthcare, law, economics, and accounting. We are proud that another five individuals will be trained and have the opportunity to apply for open positions within the District,” said Musić.
He also emphasized strong institutional cooperation with the Government and relevant departments, as well as with the Employment Bureau and JP ‘Putevi Brčko’, to further enhance the inclusion of citizens.
“The funds that came to Brčko District are a result of our unit’s proactive approach and the support of local authorities. We are awarding grants in the amount of 5,000 euros per applicant (excluding VAT), and this year we had 11 applicants,” Musić noted.

Mirko Mečić, director of a private healthcare institution in which one of the interns will carry out their internship, stated that opportunities like this support both business expansion and the professional development of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“According to the law and regulations, in order to obtain an independent work license, a person must complete an internship and pass a professional exam. During the internship, young people acquire practical knowledge under the supervision of mentors, complementing their university education. After gaining such experience, we have a professional ready for the labor market who can continue working with us or in a similar institution,” Mečić concluded.
