The Brčko District Diabetes Association marked World Diabetes Day
The Diabetes Association of Brčko District BiH marked World Diabetes Day with a series of activities aimed at raising awareness of this chronic disease and improving public health. The activities were carried out within the Socio-Economic Inclusion project, funded by the Government of the Czech Republic.
As stated by the Association’s president, Đorđe Vuković, the event included free blood sugar testing, blood pressure measurement, vein elasticity checks, and an assessment of vitamin and mineral levels in the body, as well as the traditional walk under the slogan “Walking for Health.” This walk is part of a global campaign that this year brought together 417 events across 95 countries.
From the Association emphasized that World Diabetes Day is an important opportunity to remind citizens that diabetes is a lifelong chronic condition, but that with proper education, healthy nutrition, physical activity, and regular monitoring of blood glucose levels, individuals can lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

During the event, it was reiterated that the most common causes of diabetes remain stress, physical inactivity, poor diet, and obesity. Symptoms such as excessive thirst, fatigue, depression, frequent urination, and sudden weight loss can be serious warning signs that require immediate medical attention.
The Association also announced that it will continue to organize various educational activities and health-related programs at the SEI Center in Brčko, with the goal of preventing diabetes and improving the well-being of the community.
