SEI Center Business Incubator in Brčko opens its doors to eight start-ups

The SEI Center, within the framework of the project “Socio-Economic Inclusion in the Brčko District of BiH”, today organized a formal signing ceremony with the future users of its Business Incubator. Eight agreements were signed, providing support to start-ups in the fields of digital marketing, branding, accounting, specialized hygiene services, and the production, assembly, and sale of modular furniture.

“Within these premises, users will have the opportunity to develop their business ideas, create self-employment opportunities, and, in doing so, contribute to reducing unemployment in the Brčko District — which is one of the project’s main objectives. In the coming period, we plan to invest additional funds to further equip these facilities. At the same time, we are working with an architect under a consultancy agreement to design a concept for a new conference hall, which will further enhance the standard of this space,” said Vanja Jošić, Project Coordinator at CARE International, on behalf of the partner organization.

He added that over the past year and a half of project implementation, nearly 40 people have already been employed, with the goal of increasing that number in the future. By the end of the year, the opening of a social enterprise is also planned. Currently, initial stages are underway involving consultants who are examining the legal framework and proposing practical solutions.

The Brčko District Development and Guarantee Fund, a key partner in the SEI project, plays an essential role in supporting the local community.

“All of these start-ups are independent entrepreneurs taking their first steps into business and facing significant challenges, such as renting office space and accessing various consulting services. The SEI Center aims to provide these services to users — support they would otherwise not be able to afford at the early stage of their business,” said Ognjen Okilj, a representative of the Brčko District Development and Guarantee Fund. He also highlighted that professional staff would assist incubator users in developing their business ideas, while enabling networking and collaboration opportunities among them.

Following the signing ceremony, it was noted that two spots remain available in the Business Incubator. Therefore, the Public Call is still open to all interested applicants who wish to take advantage of this opportunity and secure initial support for launching their business ideas.

The “Socio-Economic Inclusion in the Brčko District of BiH” project is funded by the Government of the Czech Republic through the Czech Development Agency and implemented by CARE International in cooperation with the Brčko District Development and Guarantee Fund.
