Planned Preparatory Works for the Adaptation of the Ground Floor of the SEI Center Building in Brčko
The Socio-Economic Inclusion Project in Brčko continues through planned activities aimed at creating employment opportunities and improving the conditions of use of the facility allocated to the SEI Center.
The meeting was attended by architects, representatives of the SEI project team, employees of the SEI Center, and representatives of the project’s partner organizations – CARE International and the Development Guarantee Fund of the Brčko District. Among other topics, discussions focused on preparatory works for the adaptation of the ground floor of the SEI Center building, which will serve for holding working meetings, public gatherings, and speeches, particularly to support marginalized groups – unemployed persons, youth, women, members of the Roma national minority, and persons with developmental disabilities.

“Our intention is to carry out preparatory works on the ground floor of the building to adapt two office spaces and create a conference hall so that all our target groups, especially persons with disabilities, can use it,” emphasized project manager Branislav Tanasijević.
This is a continuation of planned activities that include the interior refurbishment of the SEI Center building. “We are continuing the activities initiated last year, and in 2025, after the reconstruction of the first floor is completed, we plan to finish the refurbishment of the ground floor with a special focus on adapting the space for persons with disabilities,” Tanasijević stressed, adding that this is one of the first steps while awaiting the Brčko Government to do its part by constructing an access ramp and a sanitary facility for persons with disabilities.
As noted at the meeting, the part that needs to be adapted could also serve as a space for the operation of the first social enterprise in the District, which is a key task of the entire SEI project this year.
“In this context, we are certainly encouraged and reassured by the funds allocated for the necessary reconstruction of the building’s roof as well as its façade, which proves that our partners in Brčko – in addition to the District Government and the local Development Guarantee Fund – are making every effort to ensure that all planned activities for 2025 are fully completed,” Tanasijević concluded.
The Socio-Economic Inclusion Project in the Brčko District of BiH is financed by the Government of the Czech Republic through the Czech Development Agency.
