New Year gift packages distributed to children of the Roma national minority in the Brčko District

On the occasion of the New Year holidays, 120 New Year gift packages were distributed today at the Day Center for Children of the Roma National Minority in the Brčko District. The packages were provided by the SEI Center within the framework of the Socio-Economic Inclusion (SEI) project in the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The distribution was carried out with the participation of the civil society organization Youth Center Vermont, which is a partner organization on the project and also manages the Day Center.

On this occasion, Miloš Stanković, an expert for socio-economic inclusion at the SEI Center, emphasized that members of the Roma national minority are among the most vulnerable and most frequently marginalized social groups:
“Members of the Roma national minority are one of the target groups of the SEI project, through which we continuously strive to provide support to them, as well as to other marginalized groups such as persons with developmental disabilities, unemployed young people, or women. In this way, we aim to contribute to their greater inclusion in social and economic processes. Therefore, through this activity, we want to bring joy to children and send a clear message of care, support, and solidarity. This is a small but sincere gesture of attention and care, and part of our broader commitment to building a more inclusive and fair society.”

The Director of the Youth Center Vermont, Damir Radenković, expressed satisfaction with the results achieved so far by the SEI project, particularly highlighting progress in the area of employment and the development of the first social enterprise that this civil society organization plans to establish soon in Brčko. He thanked the SEI Center for the donated gift packages and extended New Year greetings to all partners.

The Socio-Economic Inclusion project in the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina is funded by the Government of the Czech Republic and implemented by the Development and Guarantee Fund of the Brčko District and CARE International Balkans, with the aim of improving the position of marginalized groups and strengthening their socio-economic status within the community.
