Three-day training completed at the SEI Center: “Financing opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises”

The SEI Center Brčko, in cooperation with partner microcredit foundations and companies, organized a three-day educational training titled “Financing opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises.” The sessions were held from 11 to 13 November 2025, bringing together start-up companies, registered craftspeople, and all individuals interested in launching or expanding their businesses.

On behalf of the event organizers, Željko Novaković, an entrepreneurship expert at the SEI Center, emphasized that participants had the opportunity to gain detailed insights into key financing concepts and conditions, specific offers from microcredit organizations, and ways to identify the best financial solutions for developing their business ideas.

Representatives of the Brčko District of BiH Development and Guarantee Fund participated in the training. This institution, together with CARE International Balkans, is a partner in the project Socio-Economic Inclusion in Brčko District of BiH, under which the SEI Center was established with financial support from the Government of the Czech Republic.

“As lecturers at this three-day event, we presented guarantee and subsidy programs for entrepreneurs and business incubator users, with a special focus on benefits for the development of small and medium enterprises and registered agricultural holdings in the District. Participants had the opportunity to learn in detail about the conditions for using guarantees and subsidies, as well as to receive answers to all their questions and concerns,” said Boriša Damjanac, Financial Project Specialist.

Mirjana Ristanić, Senior Associate for Financial Affairs and Internal Financial Control, explained the key objectives of RGFBD on this occasion.

“The Brčko District of BiH Development and Guarantee Fund focuses on implementing development projects within the District and on providing credit support to registered agricultural holdings, small and medium enterprises, and independent entrepreneurs. Our goal is to facilitate access to credit, especially for those who lack quality collateral instruments, such as guarantees or adequate collateral. In addition, we launch public calls for subsidizing part of the interest rates during the purchase or construction of a first property, in order to support the resolution of housing needs,” said Ristanić.

According to the attendees, the event demonstrated the importance of such educational activities in strengthening entrepreneurship and supporting small and medium enterprises in Brčko District, through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical advice from financial experts.
